On the way out to Hawk Canyon I drove past this scene which I knew would last but a half hour at the most. So I got up in the dark and drove to the spot and set up and as soon as I could see at all I started drawing it in and and anticipating what was going to happen when the sun popped over the horizon. When it did I painted as fast as humanly possible. From there I just kind of cleaned up the mess. Not a great photo but gives the idea.
