Hazy Street

This morning was so warm and still there was a rare hazy light that we don't see very often here on the edge of the big pond. I wanted to play with the geometric shapes against the backdrop of the mountains. Mostly it was about the atmosphere. Much better then the winds of last week.

Change in the weather

I like those crazy nondescript sky's we get when the weather changes around here. Just after this I started on an involved home improvement project. Of course that is when the weather turned off fantastic with temps in the seventies. Now that the project is winding down we are back to the fog. Go figure.

Country Morning

Driving back from Trinidad yesterday I spotted this scene and went there this morning to get the early light. I stood right  on the edge of the highway with the cars blasting by.For the right scene I can ignore the noise. There are so many little gems that we pass all the time. I like finding them and bringing them to life.

Trinidad Boat Launch

While I was dug in out of the wind and it was just getting worse I saw no reason to move. I have always liked these buildings against the landscape.

Trinidad Cove

The weather finally lifted and we got a sunny day Trinidad seemed like a good idea. I expected the wind and boy did I get it. But this was not my first rodeo. I have a few spots just for those kind of days.

Manzanita

These gray days in spring are making me ache for summer days on the river. I keep telling myself it won't be long. From so much painting plein air even when I work in the studio from a photo I can feel the breeze and smell the rivers life.

Salmon River Pool

I have always loved the drive up the Salmon River. Not a road for the feint of heart. Go up there a couple of times a year. wanted to do this pool for years. Here it is.

Madden Creek

This is another small painting I did during the workshop. This is one of my favorite places. I can remember trout fishing here before the 1964-65 flood. I visited it just afterwards it was totally devastated. There was not a tree left  and it was graveled in from bank to bank. I have been there every year since and watched it recover. It is now once again how I remember it.

Trinidad Pier

I did a Plein Air workshop this last weekend and did this little study at the new pier in Trinidad. It was a glorious calm sunny day a rarity this time of year.
